Building What Comes Next:
Engineering & Technology at DVC

If you walk past the construction site today, you’ll see steel, concrete, and a structure beginning to take shape. It’s impressive—but it’s not the full story. Because what’s being built at Diablo Valley College isn’t just a building. It’s a place where ideas turn into action. Slated to open in Fall 2027, the new Engineering & Technology Building will become the hub for applied learning at DVC—a space where students design, build, test, and solve real-world problems alongside faculty and industry partners. Shape From Structure to Experience The building itself is already funded and under construction. What comes next—and where the DVC Foundation will play a key role—is ensuring that when the doors open, students step into a space that is fully equipped for hands-on learning from day one. That means taking a thoughtful look at what’s needed inside the building—tools, technology, and learning environments that bring the space to life. From CNC and machine labs to 3D printing, robotics, and collaborative design studios, the goal is simple: create an environment where students don’t just learn about the work—they do the work.

Why This Matters
At DVC, engineering and technology education has always been grounded in real experience.
Students build. They test. They problem-solve. They learn by doing.
And they move forward ready—for transfer, for careers, and for industries that continue to evolve right here in our region.
This new building is an opportunity to expand that experience—to give more students access to the kind of learning that prepares them for what’s next.
Where We Are Right Now
We are in the early planning stages—working with faculty, industry partners, and campus leaders to assess what it will take to fully activate this building as a true center for applied learning and innovation.
In the months ahead, that work will take shape into a defined campaign effort.
But before that happens, there’s an important step: listening, connecting, and building the right group of partners who see the potential of what this space can become.
An Invitation
If you’re an alumnus who benefited from engineering or technology learning at DVC…
If you’re part of an industry that depends on a skilled, hands-on workforce…
If you believe that students should graduate ready to contribute on day one…
We’d value your perspective.
This is a moment to share ideas, make connections, and help shape what this building becomes—not just for opening day, but for the students who will learn here for years to come.

The Work Ahead
Right now, it’s a construction site.
Soon, it will be a place where students get their hands on the tools, technologies, and experiences that define their future.
The structure is rising.
Now we begin the work of bringing it to life—together.
